First, the construction has to meet the regulations (DS 189/05) about sanitary conditions and basic safety on sanitary landfills. Second, select the location and begin to build the impermeable lining as the base of the landfill. Third, lay out the percolated liquid capture network. Facilities are needed for offices, dining rooms, restroom, etc. as establish by law (DS 594). Additionally, we need a treatment plant for the percolated liquids, complying with current regulations that control the quality of the waters depending on its final destination after being purified. To control the biogas emissions, environmental guidelines also consider burning it under controlled conditions.
