| How residential waste is taken to the sanitary landfill? |

The waste is collected from the streets by collection trucks. This service is contracted by municipalities and its extraction frequency is determined by each customer: daily, biweekly or three times a week. The collection trucks have pre-established routes and cover the whole community. Each truck has a hydraulic system to compact the waste maximizing the loads. Once the truck is filled to capacity, it goes to either the sanitary landfill or to the transfer station to unload. At the transfer station, the loads can be then loaded onto sealed silos –compacted waste- or open containers depending on the type of waste. The silos are transported to the sanitary landfill via large specialized trucks or via freight trains as in KDM’s Quilicura Transfer Station.
