| How does the Quilicura Transfer Station (QTS) works? |

Collection trucks transport USW to the Quilicura Transfer Station. Each arriving truck is weighted at the QTS to determine the quantity of waste transported in. This weight information is used to invoice the customer, which could be a municipality or a private party. After the truck is weighted, the load is taken to the unloading platform. If the load is residential solid waste, the truck goes to the upper platform. If the load is construction or landscaping debris, the truck unloads at the lower platform. At the upper platform, the trucks deposit their load in large silos, built for this purpose and positioned vertically. In each silo the waste is compacted with a hydraulic piston increasing their load capacity. When a silo is filled to capacity, is closed and taken to a train freight car. The construction and landscaping debris follow the same path but instead of being loaded to sealed silos, they are loaded onto open containers without compacting. When the open container is filled up, it is also taken to a freight train car. Once the freight train has completed its load -20 to 25 wagons- is dispatched to the Loma Los Colorados Sanitary Landfill (LLCSL). At the landfill, each silo or open container is loaded onto a truck that will take to the working cell in the landfill where is disposed.
