INDUSTRIAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT CENTER (ISWMC) – CODELCO El Teniente Division

The Industrial Solid Waste Management Center (ISWMC) is a project design, built, and operated by KDM S.A. for Codelco Chile, El Teniente Division. It is located near Caletones within the El Teniente mining complex, around the city of Rancagua. The Center receives waste materials generated by several sources in more than 140 different points around the El Teniente mining complex. It accepts materials from all other El Teniente sources as well. All waste materials are checked into the ISWMC. Once in the Center, the materials are sorted and taken to warehouses specially built for their safe storage. All truck loads arriving to the ISWMC must park in area designated for sorting, storage, and treatment of ISW. The ISW then is classified based on its specific nature and characteristics: hazardous ISW, non-hazardous ISW, and residential-like ISW. COMPREHENSIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT SERVICES – CODELCO Andina Division

The Center facilities are located on km. 15, industrial road, Andina Division. Here, all waste generated by Andina Division is processed. The Center receives hazardous waste and non-hazardous / commercially –viable, and unviable waste. The materials are then registered, weighted, sorted and grouped for transport, treatment, and final disposal of the different types of ISW. ANGLO AMERICAN – LOS BRONCES DIVISION
This activity is performed within the facilities of Los Bronces is of collection and transport and is managed by KDM S.A. Industrial Services Division. This type of waste is stored daily at the collection areas on each Generator Center. The waste is classified by its type, and then transported to the transfer yard located inside the operation facility. Finally, the waste is loaded to large containers (20 cubic meters) and transported to its final disposal site. KDM S.A. manages the Transfer Yard as part of its services and maintains a permanent field presence in order to train and supervise on the correct sorting and storing procedures utilized to dispose hazardous waste. ANGLO AMERICAN – MANTOS BLANCOS DIVISION
For this purpose, KDM S.A. performs cleaning tasks with a team of highly qualified personnel. Our company also provides the necessary equipment to implement the automated industrial cleaning activities. This allows the recovery of mineral spills during the processing of such materials. The work is performed in the Mantos Blancos Division facilities located 50 km (31 mi) north of the city of Antofagasta. The tasks are carried based on an operation plan created by KDM S.A. It was then developed and implemented in conjunction with the chief coordinator of the Mantos Blancos Division. The contract subscribed between KDM S.A. and ANGLO AMERICAN NORTE S.A. has a five-year duration and started on September 1st, 2007. The service agreement consists in the recovery of minerals, industrial cleaning, posted signs maintenance, and interior and exterior cleaning of SS/EE. These services include drainage areas as well at the Santa Barbara Primary Chancado (crushing) plant, Chancado Oxidos plant, Chancado Sulfuros, Lixiviación, SX plant, Nave EW, and Sulfuros plant. POLPAICO GROUP – CERRO BLANCO PLANT
We use advanced high-vacuum technology equipment in the control of spilled materials and its devolution back to the process. This material recovery is crucial to the efficiency of the process. The Comprehensive Maintenance contract of the plant is divided into four services:

CELTA-IQUIQUE SERVICE CONTRACT
The agreement consists on the transport of these waste materials from temporary storage places inside the plant such as “ash area” and “scrap storage pool” . The waste material is retrieved from both of these mentioned sites and taken to its final disposal landfill located 15 km (9 mi) away from the plant. Once there, both the ash and scrap are laid in consecutive layers and compacted to an appropriate Proctor level. Last, the waste product is covered with overlaying material and maintained at an appropriate moist level to avoid the pollution of surrounding places. These services require a 24 hour, 365 days a year constant rotation. The service agreement must comply with at least the following points:

A good example of comprehensive management services are the Industrial Solid Waste Management Centers (ISWMC) located in Codelco Chile El Teniente Division, Codelco Andina Division, Anglo American Mantos Blancos and Los Bronces Divisions, and Polpaico Group Cerro Blanco plant.

KDM S.A. performs the comprehensive management service of waste created by the mining operation of Codelco Chile, Andina Division. We procure all the necessary products for continuous servicing.
Anglo American Chile, Los Bronces Division extraction operations located in the community of Lo Barnechea generates different types of industrial waste. These must be disposed in accordance to the company’s waste management plan.
KDM S.A. was awarded the contract to clean and maintain the Mantos Blancos Division facilities and equipment. These services are crucial for the continuous and required work load of the Division.
The services provided at the Cerro Blanco plant are industrial cleaning of dry and humid areas, maintenance of facilities and equipment free of foam, mud, spilled processing materials or other contamination sources.
This service calls for the removal, transport, and final disposal of ash and scrap generated by the combustion of coal at the Tarapacá thermo-electric plant.
