Borlänge Energi (BE) is a company owned by the city of Borlänge, Sweden. It is a basic services provider for the community. These services are: water, electricity, heating, and broad band connections, among others. BE also provides waste water treatment, waste collection and disposal treatment, street and road cleaning, and green areas maintenance.

Environmental subjects are a top priority for BE and its performance record proves it:

• More than 85% of the collected waste is recycled.
• Drinking water delivered on their piping system is chemical additive-free.
• The electricity produced is 100% hydro-generated.
• 95% of the heating consumed by the city comes from renewable sources.
• 95% of water pollutants are removed in their water treatment plants.

BE has participated on international cooperation projects since the early 1990s.
