School Environmental Certification (SNCAE in spanish)

The School National Environmental Certification process has the objective of:

  • To promote sustainable education in Chile as a contribution for the improvement of education quality.
  • To contribute to a cultural change through the promotion of a responsible environmental attitude.

School Environmental CertificationThe work started in 2003 after several governmental agencies and public associations subscribed an agreement to promote a cultural change in Chilean society. This challenge was taken as a group by the sponsors: Environmental National Commission (CONAMA), National Forestry Agency (CONAF), United Nations Organization for the Education, Science, and Culture (UNESCO), Chilean Municipal Association (ACHM), and the Council for Sustainable Development (CDS).

Objectives of the Agreement

  • Establish a strategic alliance with the purpose of cement the base for environmental certification in schools throughout the country.
  • KDM will finance and provide human resources to support certifications and environmental training activities that will be transferred to Metropolitan CONAF and will have the technical advice of CONAMA.

Santiago Greater Metropolitan area CONAF will supply the necessary professionals to support the processes of Environmental Certification.
