As part of the Conaf-KDM agreement and under the National System on Environmental Certification, a ceremony to award environmental certifications to area schools took place on Tuesday, September 09, 2007.
Many authorities and KDM representatives were among the invitees to this happy occasion: Conaf (National Forest Agency) regional director Maria Teresa Latorre, Agricultural Dept. regional secretary Ricardo Vial, Sergio Carrasco Labra (Santiago’s Provincial delegate) representing Santiago’s governor office, Conama’s regional director Alejandro Smithe, Metropolitan Park of Santiago Director Teresa Rey, Conchalí’s Mayor Carlos Sottolichio, KDM’s General Manager Fernando León Steffens, and KDM’s HR and Corporate Image Manager Juan Andrés Rivera, among others.
With a panoramic view of Santiago, the ceremony took place at the impressive natural setting of Mapulemu Garden, located in the area of El Palmar at San Cristobal hill.
Thirty teachers were recognized as well for their own Environmental Disciplines training received in August. In addition, KDM formalized an agreement to finance the development of Environmental Projects in 15 schools.
We were gratefully honored to have an exquisite presentation on northern Chile’s indigenous dances performed by the children of Rayito de Sol Pre-School of Conchalí.
